Everyone is preparing for crisis but can you REALLY be prepared for crisis or is  it just learning from experiences?

P. D.: It is essential to prepare for crisis. Experience is important, but the more preparation you do, the better.

What are the three most important things that every communications professional should know in times of crisis?

P. D.: The three most important things are prepare, prepare, prepare! Make sure your communication structure is in place – a crisis can become a global issue in a matter of minutes, so you need a structure that can cope. Prepare your resources – Q&A, website, key messages, trained spokespeople – so you are ready to respond quickly. Rehearse your team in realistic conditions so they know what to expect and how to perform.

Many say that in today’s volatile markets company’s reputations can be easily destroyed. Would you agree with this statement?

P. D.: I would most certainly agree that reputations can easily be destroyed in today’s volatile conditions – ask any of the big banks.

What are your expectations from this year’s Corporate Communications conference?

P. D.: I am hoping to gain from shared experience at the conference.
